The study of The Holy Spirit is confusing to most of us at first. But if we earnestly desire truth then we must believe that truth comes first from God’s Word. God in His Word testifies that there is more than one in operation, but those in operation is One (Refer to Deut 6:4). His testimony began in the creation of the world where He used the word US several times in the book of Genesis. Now..who is this Us I asked myself? And why is God using the word Us to describe Himself? Because it is very clear that US means more than one? I needed to know because this information according to 2 Timothy 3:16 is beneficial to me and for me.
For me to accept the Holy Spirit as God I had to believe first that He is a part of the Us. And that He is One with God. 1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit: and these three are one. Then I had to ask God to help me understand His truth because although I did believe it, it did not make sense to me at all.
- Let us look at some scriptures where God refers to Himself in the plural
1. Genesis 1:26 Let Us make man.
2. Genesis 3:22 Behold, the man has become like one of Us.
3. Genesis 11:7 Come, let Us go down.
4. Isaiah 6:8 Who will go for Us?
Now, we already know that God is Us; this truth cannot change for it has already been written by God. So instead of fighting to prove this fact is not accurate like others, let’s ask God to help us get to know the Us.
It’s funny how a set of scripture can be used to teach and justify truth, and at the same time, someone can use that same set of scriptures to teach something completely opposite that opposes God’s truth. This is all happening in the Body Of Christ. Folks, let’s not believe everything we read or hear, even if it is from someone we trust, especially if their truth nullifies Gods writing in His word. Instead, let rely on God’s Holy Spirit, who is the Spirit of truth. He is the author of the Bible and can bring us understanding. Remember there can be only one truth; not God’s truth and also man’s truth. Wouldn’t that be confusing? Which truth would you believe? As for me, I will believe in God’s Word over man’s…..
