It is a serious mistake to believe that because we have become Born Again, none of those things taught under the law affects us. Look around! Grace has not changed the condition of the world. If it did, we would never have a prayer list. Deuteronomy 28 curse list could be seen in and around us. Plagues, diseases, infirmities, together with lack, losses and discouragement have been a continuous part of our human experiences. And is why we continually bring our petitions before our God.
Everything begins in the unseen realm where spirits live. What we see or experience is the result of a spirit’s successful operation. Lies for instance, have a spirit working in the spiritual realm. See 2 Chronicles 18:21. Peace and faith have a spirit. Infirmities in our bodies are the result of spirits at work. The list is endless. As Joshua Selman would say, “is it not written in your bible?” Still, Believers live in ignorance to these encounters but shouldn’t, remember the word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our pathway. God wants us to know what He knows.
God has taught us that even though our natural eyes are not designed to see spiritual uncleanness, we could depend on Him for that information. Reminds me of the way Cops detect blood. Their eyes cannot identify blood stains if it was cleaned with certain disinfecting solution, but a UV/BLACK light can be used to detect those blood stains, including saliva, semen, and urine.
God is our eyes and ears. Through Him we become aware of the unknown, enlightened about the effects, and are given the solutions. It is unwise then to ignore His instructions because they affect the abundant life that He has promised us. Remember this, unknown sin and unknown uncleanness are violations that need our attention, because they will affect us in many ways. God is telling us how to identify when these could take place, because He still holds us guilty by them, even if we are unaware.
For those who may think that God’s decision is unfair, answer this. He has given every information needed for holiness and purity, but our belief is that they are no longer valid. So, what more could God have done for the people of this world? Therefore, our Bible will testify that God is justified by His provision.
In the Law God taught us that a person can become unclean by unseen contaminants, like dead bodies, or by being in proximity. An infected person can transfer contaminants by touching a person or a thing, very much like E. coli transfers from one person to another by handshake. We understand being in proximity because we pick up the smell of food on our bodies and clothing from being in the atmosphere of a fast-food outlet. Things are attaching themselves to us, and God is making us aware. Direct and indirect contact always existed. Covid caused many of us to gain a better understanding of how these transfer work.
These things are true, and is trustworthy about God’s word
- Jesus said not one word will pass from the Law (God’s word) till all things are fulfilled. This is what God says, “I will hold accountable anyone who does not listen to My word that the Prophet speaks. That Prophet is Jesus the Christ. Deut 18:19, Acts 3:23, Mat 5:18
- Isaiah understood. He said, The grass with the flower fades but the word of our God will stand forever. Isaiah 40:8
- Peter says the word of God remain forever. 1 Pet 1:25
- Timothy said it is in the word of God that we are taught, instructed, corrected, and is convicted. 2 Tim 3:16
Grace has given us an advantage that wasn’t there before. We can now do everything that God is asking us to do, as we have divine help from the Holy Spirit. When we become affected, we must approach God for cleansing, and 1 John 1:9 provides the instructions
- If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Our first step is believing God, then obeying His instructions. If we love Him, we will keep His commands.
