James 4:7

The supernatural power we have over the enemy is stated in God’s Word, but I hadn’t fully grasped it until now. When God instructs us to submit to Him, resist the devil and he will flee, this act of us standing firm is actually us, using God’s supernatural power against the devil, and that is how we win.

Resisting is the supernatural power that causes us to walk in the authority over the power of the enemy. It defeats the enemy’s power, giving us victory. Our defiance and steadfastness signals to the enemy that we are not only aware of our God-given authority, but we are actively using it. Our enemy recognizes our stance, that God’s power is behind it, and that is why he flee.

In resisting we are not only alert, but we are standing firm, armed with our faith. It is the only proof that we are operating in the authority crafted into His Word, and that resisting is more powerful than the deceptive plans the enemy has crafted against us.

I had this visual of the children of Israel rebuilding the Temple wall. Nehemiah 4:17-18 tells us, those who were rebuilding the wall and those who carried burdens worked with one hand and held his weapon with the other. Every builder had his sword secured at his side as he built. This tells us they understood they had enemies and were always prepared to fight.

As long as the earth remain the work that God is doing through the Church/Believers continues. Therefore, like Nehemiah and the children of Israel we must arm ourselves, as our enemy the devil, is working diligently to keep us from the good work that God has prepared for us beforehand, to walk in them. Eph 2:10

Stay safe, watchful, and remember the authority is written in the Word.
