The Backslider’s Hope

Food For Though

1 John 2:19 says,” They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.” NKJV

Consider this. Jesus gave us the parable of the prodigal son for us to understand more than just the Father’s attitude towards a returning disgraced son, but also to show us that after leaving for a long time someone could return and be be receive with joy.

As long as life remains in the body there is hope. And anyone who renounces the church, speaks evil of it, leaving and returning to the world could come home again. Only God know the end of a man and walking away may not always be his end. In the midst of his chaos, he could remember the Father and return.

This should cause us to be very careful not to condemn those who might waver, or struggle if their walk is not quite perfect. Instead, we must genuinely pray and hope for their safe return, remembering that we are also targets.

Watch and pray and remember that it is he who endures to the end that will be saved.
